Hot Honey The Halifax Way

Canada's most loved hot honey.

Nova Scotian wildflower honey infused with pickled chillies — nothing else. It started in a Halifax kitchen with seven pounds of local honey and a stubborn hunt for the right heat, and it's still made in small batches in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Tastefully Hot™.

Drizzle it over sticky ribs coming off the smoker, toss it through wings, finish a fresh pepperoni slice out of the pizza oven, or coat roasted veg before they hit the heat. One jar beside the grill and it earns a permanent spot there — which is exactly why our team keeps it stocked.

BEHIND THE BRAND

"We aren't building trends. We're building traditions."

Halifax Honey Company was founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2016 by lifelong friends Jake Mahoney and Jesse Abbass — one raised on a Navy chef's cooking, the other in his family's pub on the Halifax waterfront. It's family-run today, with Jake's wife Olivia on the team.

It started with seven pounds of honey bought from beekeepers in Antigonish and months of chilli experiments. The batch that finally worked got drizzled over a sourdough grilled cheese — it vanished, and Stingin' Hot Honey had its recipe.

Ten years on, the recipe hasn't drifted: Nova Scotia wildflower honey, unpasteurized, infused with real pickled chillies. Nothing else in the jar.
